Paradise

I knew I should've blogged this all right away, because it's official the vacation high is over. It doesn't take long when you come back to snow, cold and just regular ol life. But, that being said I knew it wouldn't last forever. Anyways we had a week away just the 2 of us in Maui. Honestly it was fabulous. It was perfect in every way. So great to sneak away and just enjoy being in such a hot, sunny & beautiful place with just us. I don't know what anyone else's idea of paradise would be, but this did it for me. It was amazing. We did many of the typical Hawaiian touristy things. Which included lounging by our fabulous pools, and the beaches. The beaches are amazing, and where we were they were totally not busy, as in less than 5 people one morning.
It was really nice to go away and have no real agenda or plans, we just did whatever, whenever. Although, that is asking a lot of Ryan he is such a planner and really wants to make the most of everything, and he has a hard time just sitting and relaxing.
Don't worry he managed.

Here is our resort, which we seriously loved everything about it. It was fun to really treat ourselves to such a great place.

I thought with it just being the 2 of us I wouldn't take THAT many pictures but be prepared, I did. I had fun just fooling around and trying to capture some shots from the beaches and whatever else seemed worthy. I don't think you will ever see a post with more pics of Ryan in it. For some reason I think it's funny when we would take pictures of each other, (nothing like a solo shot), but I was usually the one with the camera so lucky for Ryan he finally got some camera spotlight & of course a few self portraits of us.

We went to a luau which was totally fun, entertaining and had way too much good food.
Ryan did a preggo shot of me so here I am just over 6 months

We went to Haleakala National Park, which is such a cool drive as you just keep going up and up above the clouds. We checked out the craters at the top. It seemed like a must do to see some volcano sights in Hawaii. Then Ryan (or should I say WE) I guess I agreed to it too, we hiked down into the crater it was breezy going down, and seriously killer coming up. Honestly what was I thinking it was like Susie vs. the Volcano. I know sound ridiculous & it was.
Fortunately he did feel kinda bad for making us hike way down into the crater. Unfortunately there was only one way out ... on my own 2 feet.
The picture does in no way do it justice this is part of the trail we hiked down. I know it looks like a nice easy walk, but it was brutal not to mention we were hiking in Hawaii in the middle of the afternoon, scorcher.
I laugh when I get Ryan to do some awesome picture posing.

If you know Ryan you may be familiar with his love of golfing. If you know Ryan you know his personality and when he gets into something he is like full on, & dedicates every thing to it. So he usually doesn't take on too many different things. Golf has made the cut, he freaking loves it. Everything about it. Anyways there are some amazing courses in Hawaii, it just so "happened" that the most amazing golf course (where they just played the PGA tour a week before we got there) was right at our resort. Oh life coincidences right! So he did get out to a few courses and really it was a huge highlight for him. He seriously loved the courses & could talk about them forever. The views were pretty amazing, but again I'm so not a golfer & will never understand how you could choose to do golf over sun, fun & beaches.

So there you have it. I do have to say we could not have done this without my parents & sister and Ryan's parents who all had Sadie stay with them for a bit. THANK YOU again! Really she is like a little slice of paradise to the grandparents right?

Where were you last week?

We are back from the island of the sun. I will do a proper post very soon with a few details and pics of our glorious week in Hawaii. But I just looked at all the pictures and am a little overwhelmed at the number of pics we took of ourselves including way too many in a swimsuit. eeeks! Our time there was fabulous I didn't get sick of these beaches or this guy. Yep I'd do it all over again.

But, I can't kid myself it was exciting to come home to this little one.

Update

I am lost in my pictures right now. Ryan got me a new little camera for Christmas that I have been using. Now I don't always have to haul out my bigger one. So I decided to do what so many have done and started a photo a day for 2010. I don't know what I plan to do with them all when the year is up, but it motivates me to take pictures more, which I like. I'm organizing and adding to them on this 365day blog. I'll admit it's mostly just me following Sadie around right now. So I've been into that & haven't felt the urge to post pictures here.
But, really what could be more fun and any cuter than this.
A girl who know how to work a hammer & nail
The finished project was a calendar, and painting was for sure a higlight. Having a tea party with Bella

Every kid has a bedtime routine. Right now Sadie's includes of all these guys joining her along with her sippy cup, soother and blanket. She would probably like it if I moved her to a bed, it's looking a little squishy.

This may not be funny enough to put on the blog, but it kinda cracked me up. Sadie went potty and I got a new roll (and a new brand) of toilet paper. This was her reaction. It was Purex if you were wondering.

Merry New Year

I'm not even going to try and pretend to catch up on the last few weeks. They have been filled with fun, excitement, family, food, and all that good stuff. It is good to get back to our own house and boring normal routine, I guess.
Mostly for my memory I am adding a few events/highlights from the Christmas season including the good and not so good for Sadie. It really is a totally different experience having a kid that gets excited for Christmas, and I was the one responsible for making it happen. So the family traditions begin.
  • writing and sending letter to Santa
  • getting the live video of Santa (isn't this techno stuff amazing)
  • making sugar cookies (10 mins is enough) eating was better
  • seeing Santa AND getting a treat = success
  • Decorating gingerbread houses twice, still good.
  • going to mom's to make chocolates, it was worth it but I still can't stop eating them
  • kids dough art ornaments, painting was a hit.
  • playing outside in the snow, again only for 10 mins - Sadie is a cold wimp for sure
  • chocolate countdown
  • Elfie & Santa watching Sadie
  • zoo lights I was way excited for this, but in my opinion it is so not worth it, freezing cold screaming kid means is the very definition of not worth it.
  • trying to take Sadie sledding just tried today with Allaina & her kids. Sadie was screaming before we even made it to the hill. Winter outdoor activities aren't looking so good.
  • even suprised Ryan with a boring present, but still he was suprised. & he suprised and spoiled me too
Now really just a whole wack of pictures & I didn't slim down too much & in no good order
making sugar cookies
my dad loves his iphone and apparently the kids do too, okay me too if it is keeping the kids entertained.

Girls Night Out
Festive Christmas Party - if you can't tell I am Suzy Snowflake, Ryan is Jackfrost & Sadie is cute, I mean a snow princess

There ya have it, Christmas 09 and now onto the new decade 2010.

Well that was fun, for a weekend.

We were all bundled up and ready to head out and Alli asked if we could take a picture of them. Who could pass a photo op with these 3 up?

The weather turned this weekend and winter is here in all its freezing cold, blowing snow, blizzardy glory. BUT, that didn't stop my sister Lindsay & her husband and kids from coming up for the weekend. CRAZY! I hope we made it worth their while. Cause it was nasty and they were really in the thick of it.
After they got here we managed to leave the kids with a babysitter and go out for dinner, and Lindsay & Derek took off after that. The kids had a sleepover (by sleepover I mean they slept in the same house not the same beds, they were too hyper for that).
Having our storytime...

James & Sadie were seriously busting up over nothing, & Alli was laughing but you could see she was trying to figure out what was so funny. Guess you had to be 2.

It was fun for Ryan & I to play house and pretend we had 3 kids for a day. We took them swimming, super fun but not easy given the ratio and the swim crazy kids, out for lunch and back home. Ok it sure doesn't sound like much now but it was a day.
Awww isn't that what cousins are all about..

Sadie shows new excitement for every new thing she learns about Christmas, loving the countdown, Santa, elfie, stockings and more. I am loving that she seems to get that Santa brings presents ( I am quite sure she would be happy with a chocolate or 2 for Christmas) so I love to use the ol saying " Sadie Santa is watching you" and see her quickly change her ways and do what I ask. Sometimes I am sure I am overusing and maybe abusing but I just know this will not last long I am hoping it will get us through December, and that I can still use it again next year.

Another little tidbit that is working in my favor to minimize the 2 year old meltdowns is when I remember its all about the baby and not about me. For example I try to do or eat something she doesn't approve of and she freaks out. I say, "Sadie it is for the baby not for mommy" she immediately thinks it is okay. Sometimes when I am eating she asks, "mom baby likes it?" mmmm yes I think the baby likes chocolate.
We can't wait to see these 2 and the other cousins when we go down at Christmas.

yep he's 30

Happy Birthday to Ryan, it was his golden birthday this year he turned 30 on the 30th. Yah, he wasn't as excited about that as much as I thought he should be. I think we did a decent job of celebrating this year, since he doesn't much care for any of it. We had a little get together with a few friends where we at least acknowledged his birthday. Then on Sunday we went to his parents in Taber, for a birthday dinner and all that. We couldn't decide if we should go or not so we opted to get up at 5:30am and head down. If you know Ryan that's not to crazy he is such an early riser & it does not faze him. We just wanted to make the most of the day, so we were perfect timing for the birthday breakfast. On Monday he got home and Sadie made a little treasure hunt for him, it was really fun for the both of them. Sadie stopped halfway through and said " having fun dad?" She kept saying "I show you the next clue" The treasure at the end was cute and cheesy 30 little pics of Sadie & Dad with 30 reasons she loves her dad. here are the little pics.

But what Sadie really wanted was the cake. I had cake pops already made, & knew the 3 of us didn't need a big cake. It worked. I think it's so funny how excited Sadie is about birthdays she is all about the cake, although the anticipation and excitement seems like half the fun.

Sadie went outside in the snow and loved it. It really is quite fun to see how excited kids get about seeing the snow fall outside. I was totally that kid when it started snowing during school I remember peering out the window so excited like I'd never seen snow before. I'd be lying if I didn't say I still think it's a little magical and exciting I just also think of driving and the freezing temps for the next 5 months and you know I guess I have some grown up in me.

tagsies

I did this on Friday and forgot to post it. So here is my super exciting tag for now.

Your Hair:

Long and Blonde. I’ve always been pretty boring when it comes to my hair. Not too many crazy cuts, or colour jobs. For the most part that is the way I like it. I dread the day when my hair really gets dark (at least in my eyes) and I have to bleach it, if I can I’ll probably deny it.

Where is your cell phone?
Probably in my purse turned off, I suck at using cell phones.

Your Mother:
So great. She is always so generous & fun and makes everything an adventure.

Your Father:

Is really a good man. I’m not the only one that thinks that.

Your Favorite Food
:
Well I really like good mashed potatoes. I don’t think I’m too picky probably my favorites are the meals I don’t have to cook.

Your dream from last night:

I don’t always remember my dreams, but I do more so when I’m pregnant and they are weird and intense sometimes.

Your favorite drink:
I like lots of yummy drinks slurpees, pina coladas, daquiris and just good cold jucie.

What room are you in:
the computer room duh

What is your hobby:

ugh there are certain things I enjoy but I don’t know if I stick with them long enough to consider them my hobbies. I like to read, run, take pictures, hike.

What is your fear:

It's not that I don't fear things I just don't really think about them, I guess I hope I never have to face them.
